Home Teeth Whitening Kits
With so many people growing more
preoccupied with the color of their teeth, it is not
surprising that there are so many home teeth
whitening kits available. In the past, about the
only way a person could have teeth whitened was at a
dentist's office.
Dentists have been whiting teeth for many years and the
procedure has been improving steadily over that time. As the
means by which a dentist whitens teeth has improved, it was
inevitable that more of the science behind such teeth whiting
was going to leak out into the over the counter industry, which
is exactly what has happened.
Some of today's home kits show promise while others offer
very little in terms of results; however, it is wise to take a
good hard look before you spend your money on a well-branded
product. You could end up spending a considerable amount of
cash on a pricey product that is all hype and no substance.
Some of the most slickly designed over the counter products
with high price tags are not always what is advertised. Many
multi-step kits have fancy names for rather basic mouth care
products. Simple mouthwash masquerades as an oral neutralizing
rinse.
Pre-whitening gel often times is simple toothpaste, and
tooth trays are poorly constructed and difficult to use. Useful
products to be sure, with the exception of the tooth trays;
however, it was not what was advertised and not effective in
whitening your teeth.
Home bleaching kits are often next on the list of those who
want to whiten teeth at
home. While this works in very much the same way was a
dental office procedure, there are a few drawbacks. Firstly, it
can be rather time consuming to complete this treatment.
You should not plan to do anything other than sit and wait
for the treatment to complete, that includes talking. Also,
many of these products, while having the same bleaching formula
as an in office dental procedure only offer it in a weak
concentration, sometimes as little as 3 percent of what you
might get at a dentists office.
Perhaps the most popular of today's over the counter
treatments for teeth whitening is the whiting strip. While they
are still nowhere near the strength of a dental whiting gel you
would see in a dentist's procedure, it is likely to be double
what any other teeth whiting products have to offer.
In addition these strips are easy to apply, you can talk
when the strips are on, unlike anything using a tooth try, and
after an average of 10 days, most people who use them properly
have said that they notice a definite whiting effect.
What's more, this treatment is the least costly of many of
today's whiting treatments.
In the past, the only option for getting your teeth whitened
was to visit your dentist. While that is still the most
effective way to correctly whiten your teeth, it is also the
most expensive option as well. If, however, you have a small
tooth-whitening situation and you are looking for some minor
changes without breaking the bank, then an over the counter
treatment is normally the way to go.
Even though the treatments are cheaper than a dentist is,
there is still a huge potential for wasting money, which is why
you must choose your home teeth whitening kits wisely and pick
one that actually works.
