Teeth Whitening Home Remedies
With so much attention being paid to teeth whitening, it is
not surprising that many people have turned to teeth
whitening home remedies as an alternative to the high
cost and suspect results of some more widely marketed teeth
whitening products available today.
What many people are learning is that some very common
household products as well as some rather unusual methods are
now gaining acceptance as viable teeth whitening
solution.
One of the more known remedies are things such as baking
soda. Most dental professionals will attest that using baking
soda is safe and effective. While it can be used alone, many
people will use baking soda along with a little toothpaste to
counter act the saltiness of the baking soda itself.
Another remedy is gargling with hydrogen peroxide. This is
perhaps the most popular and cheapest of all the teeth
whitening remedies. Most people who follow this regiment in
conjunction with normal tooth brushing habits will notice
results after a few weeks; however, quicker results are common
as well.
A person might experience a slight burning in the gum
region, but it is a temporary sensation with little to no side
effects.
One lesser-known remedy for teeth whitening is derived from
strawberries. Many people are unaware that strawberries possess
natural teeth whitening agents, and in addition the seeds of a
strawberry are great for cleaning the teeth.
You can simply rub the strawberry against your teeth or you
can puree it up and use it as a toothpaste. Since strawberries
contain natural sugars and various acids it is recommended to
brush thoroughly with a good fluoride toothpaste after this
treatment.
Perhaps the most unique and potentially strange way to
naturally whiten your teeth comes from the use of wood ash.
This is a particularly odd way to whiten your teeth but because
wood ash contains a natural bleaching agent known as potassium
hydroxide, his natural agent, in the form of tiny crystals,
will scrape off plaque in some of the more difficult to reach
areas and will then work to scrub them clean.
Often time's wood ash is applied along with a small amount
of toothpaste. It is important to note however, that excessive
or frequent use of wood ash can weaken and wear down the enamel
on a tooth, so prolonged usage should be avoided.
Finally, another time honored home remedy to teeth whitening
is by concocting a homemade toothpaste. This is actually much
easier than it might appear. Simply mix some backing soda,
hydrogen peroxide, a touch of table salt and a small portion of
fluoride toothpaste. This is an effective way to brush away
stubborn tooth stains that can occur over time.
Whether your motivation in using these home remedies is
based on the idea of spending less to whiten your teeth or if
it is simply because you feel more comfortable using more
natural products, it makes very little difference.
Many of these teeth
whitening tips are well known and effective. Finding
the right home remedy for your particular needs might take some
time and some trial and error, but once you have struck upon
the right teeth whitening home remedies that suit your
personal needs then any time spent finding that remedy will be
well worth the effort.
